Top Goalkeepers!

The Serious Goalkeeping Academy had the chance to sponsor the 'Top Goalkeeper Award' at this past weekends U12 T2A Provincial Championships. The Girls Championship was hosted by Scotia S.C. and the Boys Championship was hosted by Sackville United S.C. Games were played at the Mainland Common in Halifax and at Harbour East fields in Dartmouth.

The 'Top Goalkeeper Award' on the girls side went to Serious Goalkeeping's own Cassidy Durston of Halifax County United. Cassidy helped her team to the gold medal game where they eventually lost a hard fought battle to tournament hosts Scotia S.C. Cassidy finished with the Silver Medal and had the distinction of not allowing a single goal during the entire tournament.

On the boys side, 'Top Goalkeeper' was awarded to Halifax County United goalkeeper Kyle Brown. Kyle had strong performances all tournament and was instrumental in Halifax County's semi-final victory where he made several key saves to preserve the win. Kyle also finished the tournament with a Silver Medal after a hard fought loss to Halifax City S.C. in the gold medal game.

The award winners were determined by a poll of all the participating head coaches, based on round robin and semi-final play. Winning goalkeepers received a full Uhlsport goalkeeper's kit which consisted of goalkeeper jersey, pants, gloves and socks.

SoccerStop Halifax also had the opportunity to sponsor Gold Medal Game MVP's. Taylor Green of Scotia S.C. took home a Team Canada jersey, while Blake Fenton of Halifax City S.C. was awarded a Vancouver Whitecaps jersey.

Congratulations to all teams and players involved in the tournament. It was a great weekend of soccer and we look forward to doing it again next year.
